Mission:
Started in 1994 as a mobile sharpening business that catered to the customer by visiting their business and turning around their tools quickly and efficiently, we are driven by the satisfaction of our customers.
This method has proven beneficial to our customers and to us as it allows low overhead and no downtime for the those who use their tools on a daily basis.
In November 2002, we opened a full-time shop that not only sharpens and services cutlery, but has one of the largest selection of kitchen, modern production and antique knives and scissors in the metrowest available to professionals, sportsmen and collectors alike !
Do we still do mobile sharpening ? ONLY if you are a business and have more than 50 pieces or $300 minimum. We cater to our customers, but being a small shop, we have to stay open to our walk-in customers and mail-order, which is a primary source.
Years of experience and a personal interest:
We have been a Scissors and Knife collector for over 15 years. We are currently members of the Northeast Cutlery Collectors Association, a membership that has 400+ worldwide. Our latest book "Scissors and Shears Patent Drawings of the United States" will soon be followed by another in-depth book on Scissors and Shears. We have also been coordinators of many knife trade shows and the editors of the club newsletter. Avid archers, we have also won numerous archery competitions and build our own equipment as well as shooting top of the line products from other manufacturers.
Services:
Sharpening of Knives & Shears
We only use expensive cool-running diamond wheels on shears of this caliber, thereby reducing the amount of metal that is removed. Most "Grinders" only use stone wheels !
Adjusting Shears and Scissors: This includes setting the free-fall & sizing the tips. This is part of the basic sharpening price and free of charge to all customers.
Shear, Scissor & Knife repair: While adjusting is taking place, all parts will be tested and any that need to be replaced will result in a consultation with the owner before repairs. We listen to our customers and enjoy talking business !
Sales: Visit our shop and you will be amazed at the vast array of products we sell. Everything cutlery ! Modern custom knives & scissors as well as antique cutlery and ephemera to suit any taste. We also have a 700+ page catalog that you may order from and our prices are fair, often below what you will even find on the net. If you don’t see it in the store or catalog, we can arrange to find it for you !
